MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - Memphis scored three goals in the second half to post a 4-0 win over the Tulane women's soccer team at the Memphis Soccer Field on Friday.
Tulane's loss snaps a five-match winning streak and drops the Green Wave to 9-4-1 overall and 5-2-0 in Conference USA play. Memphis improves to 4-7-3 with the win and picked up its first league victory to move to 1-4-1 in C-USA action.
Memphis got on the board in the 26th minute with a Nicky McLeod goal and took the 1-0 lead into the break. The Tigers wasted little time adding to their lead in the second half with a goal from Yuiko Konno just two minutes into the second stanza for a 2-0 Memphis lead.
The Tigers sealed the win with two goals just 68 seconds apart late in the game. With Tulane pushing to get a goal back, Memphis got a strike from Kirsty Marr at the 75:06 mark to claim a 3-0 advantage. Marr added a second goal at the 76:14 mark to round out the scoring.
Memphis had a 16-12 edge in shots, while Tulane had a 10-6 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Megan Morey was credited with two saves for Tulane, while Memphis goalkeeper Keri Rowe had one save for the Tigers. Memphis was also credited with two team saves.
Tulane returns to action on Sunday as the Green Wave travel to face TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
