
Green Wave Handles Idaho State

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University won its second straight men's tennis match, topping Idaho State University, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Stadium.
Tulane (5-2) swept the doubles matches, then won four of the six singles matches to account for the final score.
In doubles action, the Wave clicnhed the point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Sophomore Dmitriy Koch and senior Mattias Westerberg cruised to a 8-0 whitewashing at the second flight, while freshman Patrizio Maucci and junior Hannu Piiroinen won 8-2 at No. 3. Junior Michael Kogan teamed with senior Jorge Lievano to round out the doubles sweep with a hard-fought 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
In singles action, Kogan, who is ranked No. 17 in the nation, dominated his match with Malcolm Swan, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Westerberg, Piiroinen and Maucci also won in straight sets in singles play.
Tulane returns to action this weekend, playing in the Conference USA Shootout in Tampa, Fla. The first match for the Green Wave will be on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (Central) when they battle the winner of a morning match between UAB and Charlotte.
