Green Wave Men Open Play at Blue-Gray Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Tulane University opened action at the 2003 Blue-Gray Men's Tennis Classic with a 4-0 victory over Boise State University on Thursday afternoon.
Tulane, ranked No. 27 in the nation, earned the doubles point and then had straight set wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to wrap up the victory. The remainder of the matches were not completed due to tournament time constraints.
Michael Kogan and Victor Romero, who are ranked No. 11 in the nation in doubles, had a 9-7 triumph at No. 1 doubles to wrap up that point. Dmitriy Koch and Goran Vasiljevic had won 9-7 at No. 2 doubles as well.
In singles action, Romero had a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2, while Jorge Lievano cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5. Hannu Piiroinen clinched the victory with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The Green Wave will play No. 52 William & Mary on Friday afternoon.
