20th-Ranked Tulane Men's Tennis Defeats Oklahoma State

NEW ORLEANS, La. - In its first home men's tennis match since Feb. 27, Tulane University cruised to a 5-2 victory over Oklahoma State on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Goldring Tennis Stadium.
Tulane, ranked No. 20 in the nation, has now won 18 straight home matches. The Green Wave improves to 11-5 on the season. Oklahoma State, ranked No. 66 in the nation, drops to 6-2 on the year.
Junior Michael Kogan, who has been named Conference USA Player of the Week four times already this year, clinched the match at No. 1 singles. The Wave held a 3-2 edge when Kogan polished off Oklahoma State's Mark Van Elden, 6-4, 7-5. The win improves Kogan, ranked No. 15 in the country, to 14-2 this spring in singles action.
Hannu Piiroinen and Dmitriy Koch also posted straight-set victories in singles action to set Kogan up for the clinching victory.
Tulane opened the match by winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point. Kogan teamed with Victor Romero for an 8-6 win at top-flight doubles. The pair, ranked No. 11 in the country, improve to 13-1 this season.
Koch and Mattias Westerberg teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Romero also added a singles victory at No. 2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, to round out the scoring for the Wave.
Tulane is back in action on Sunday afternoon at noon, hosting Florida Atlantic University.
