Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season With Victory

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Tulane University closed its regular season with a 5-2 victory over Southern Miss in Conference USA men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg.
The Green Wave opened by winning the doubles point and then won four of the six singles matches to earned its sixth straight victory.
The Wave will look for its third Conference USA title next weekend (April 16-19) at the C-USA Tournament in Milwaukee, Wis.
In Saturday's action, senior Victor Romero, ranked No. 104 in the country, had a 6-4, 7-6 victory over David Canudas at No. 1 singles, while Dmitriy Koch, Jorge Lievano and Mattias Westerberg also picked up singles victories in straight sets.
The top ranked Green Wave player, No. 7 Michael Kogan, did not play singles as he is being rested for the league championship. Kogan did team with Romero, however, for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The Tulane pair owns the No. 8 rating in the nation in pairs play. Lievano and Koch also had a victory in doubles, winning 9-7 to clinch the doubles point for Tulane.
