SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Tulane University sophomore Jelena Jurlina notched the 10th best throw in the preliminary round of javelin throw at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday evening at Cal State Sacramento's Hornet Stadium.
Jurlina had a throw of 156 feet, nine inches to be among the 12 competitors to advance to the finals, which will take place Friday evening at 9 p.m. (Central).
The top throw in the preliminary round was logged by Indiana's Irina Kharun, who posted a distance of 177 feet, 10 inches. Jurlina's top career throw is 160 feet, four inches, a throw which earned Jurlina the Conference USA title this spring.
