NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Despite a strong defensive effort, the Tulane women's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net, dropping a 1-0 decision to Old Dominion at the Summit Hospitality Invitational at the SAS Soccer Complex on Sunday.
Tulane lost its second straight match to fall to 2-2-0, while Old Dominion won the first time this season to improve to 1-2-0.
The Monarchs got the only goal they would need just 10 minutes before halftime when Tracey Donachie scored off an assist from Kym Snyder. The Green Wave pressed for an equalizer, but couldn't crack the scoreboard.
"We had some chances, but just couldn't put the ball away today," Tulane head coach Betsy Anderson said. "This is a game that could have gone either way. Hopefully we can use this weekend to help prepare us for the physical battles we will face this season in Conference USA play."
Megan Morey recorded six saves in the Tulane nets, while Old Dominion had a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Tulane returns to action next Friday, Sept. 12, as the Green Wave play host to in-state rival LSU at the Westfledt Facility. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
