Tulane Track Opens Action at Tiger Relays

BATON ROUGE, La. - Freshman Gloria Asumnu and junior Jelena Jurlina both recorded NCAA Regional qualifying marks on Friday evening at the Tiger Relays at Bernie Moore Stadium.
Action from the LSU Tiger Relays will wrap up on Saturday. Field events are scheduled to begin at noon. Running events will follow at 2 p.m.
Asumnu recorded a time of 11.78 seconds in the 100-meter dash to take second place in the event and qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships. Jurlina, meanwhile, had a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 162 feet, nine inches, the third best throw in school history. That is also an NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
The Green Wave had two other individuals record personal records. Junior Lissie Mo recorded a long jump of 19 feet, two and three-quarters inches to take fourth place and Nicole Sauer threw the hammer 146 feet for third place. Jillian Green had a season-best effort in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, nine and a quarter inches.
Following this weekend's action, the Green Wave competes at the Yellow Jacket Invitational next Saturday in Atlanta.
