NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tulane University women's track and field team recorded six personal bests on Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational at LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium. In addition, the Green Wave had three more regional qualifying times.
One of the top efforts of the day came from senior Carlyne Pradieu, who broke her personal best time in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:35.65. She also notched a season-best time of 2:13.33 in the 800-meter run. Junior Sarah Bumby also posted a personal record in the 1,500.
Junior Lissie Mo, the Conference USA Indoor Long Jump Champion, had her personal-best effort in the outdoor long jump on Saturday with a distance of 19 feet, four inches. Just behind Mo, were sophomore Marilyn Sauls and senior Jillian Green. Sauls recorded a personal-best for the second straight week at 18 feet, nine and three-quarters inches, while Green had a season-best jump of 18 feet, seven inches.
Juniors Jelena Jurlina and Helmi Leppanen added more NCAA Regional Qualifying times as well. Jurlina qualified for the sixth time in the discus with a mark of 161 feet, five inches, and for the fifth time in the javelin at 149 feet, two inches. Leppanen's distance of 47 feet, five and three-quarters inches in the shot put was her fourth NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Other personal records were turned in by junior Tahira Wiggins in the 200-meter dash (24.98) and freshman Eva Gordon in the 5,000-meter run (19:43.84).
Tulane returns to action on May 1st, competing at the Ole Miss Open in Oxford, Miss.
