CLEMSON, S.C. - A late decision to send four individuals to the Clemson Invitational paid off for Tulane track coach Heather Van Norman as junior Lissie Mo and sophomore Marilyn Sauls both posted NCAA Regional Qualifying marks in the long jump on Saturday afternoon at the Rock Newman Track and Field Complex.
In addition, junior Jelena Jurlina notched a pair of Regional Qualifying distances in the discus and javelin.
Mo recorded a personal record in the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, nine inches. It makes her the fifth-best long jumper in school history. Sauls, meanwhile, shattered her personal record in the long jump by nearly five inches with a leap of 19 feet, six and a quarter inches.
Senior Jillian Green also notched a personal-best effort in the long jump by leaping 19 feet, two and three-quarters inches.
Mo also added a season-best effort of 37 feet, two and a half inches in the triple jump.
Jurlina added her seventh and eighth Regional Qualifying marks in the discus and her seventh in the javelin. She had a throw of 153 feet, two inches in the discus and won the javelin event with a distance of 140 feet, 10 inches.
Tulane will be in action next weekend at the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships which begin Thursday at the University of Louisville.
