Asumnu Again Leads Green Wave Track

OXFORD, Miss. - Sophomore Gloria Asumnu registered a pair of NCAA Regional qualifying times to lead the Tulane track and field teams at the Mississippi Invitational on Saturday at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex. The Green Wave posted 19 personal records in the meet.
Asumnu posted personal records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, both NCAA Regional qualifying marks. She ran the 100 in 11.64 seconds, the second-best time in school history while her 200 time of 23.72 was the third best in school history.
Asumnu was also part of Tulane's 4x100 relay team which recorded an NCAA Regional qualifying time as well. She was joined by Angel Dooley, Lissie Mo and Marilyn Sauls to register a time of 45.50 seconds, the second-best time in Tulane history.
The Green Wave men's track program had a strong day as well, with 10 individuals posting personal records. Senior Eric Hambidge had the top finish, taking second in the javelin with a throw of 183 feet, four inches. Freshman Joe Goosby added an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 46 feet, one-half inch.
Other personal records for the women's team were turned in by Camilla Hatlen (200 meters, shot put), Hannah Carlson (800 meters), Sauls (long jump) and Mo (200 meters).
The Green Wave will host its only home meet of the season on Wednesday afternoon at the Danny Thiel Track located behind the Wilson Center on Tulane's campus. UNO, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls State and Southern (New Orleans) will also be competing.
