NEW ORLEANS, La. - Senior Lissie Mo and freshman Aubrey Phillips led the Tulane women while senior Eric Hambidge was the top finisher for the men at the Tulane Track and Field Invitational on Wednesday at the Danny Thiel Track on the Tulane campus.
The meet featured five local schools as Tulane, UNO, Southeastern Louisiana, Loyola and Southern (N.O.) had individuals in action.
UNO had five first-place finishes in the women's event, while the Privateers also led the men's event with four first-place finishes.
Mo won the 200-meter dash with a time of personal record of 25.38 seconds, while earning second in the 100. Phillips was the top finisher in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:50.98. Hambidge was the top male finisher for the Wave, taking second place in the javelin, which was contested on Tuesday at Southeastern with the other throwing events. Hambidge had a throw of 182 feet, one inch.
The Green Wave men's 4x100 relay team, made up of current Tulane football players Anthony Cannon, Sean Lucas, Damarcus Davis and Bruce Youmans finished second in that event with a season-best time of 42.56 seconds.
Freshman Michael Menley also had a strong day for the Wave, posting personal records in three events: the 110-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the high jump. Overall, Tulane had 10 personal records for its fast-improving men's team, including its top 100-meter dash time of the year, an 11.04 effort by Youmans.
The Wave women also had 10 personal records, including sophomore Christina Tegbe in the long jump and freshman Rachel Bryan in the 1,500-meter run.
Tulane returns to action on Saturday, competing at the Hurricane Invitational at the University of Miami.
