NEW ORLEANS - Fans in Texas and Louisiana will see all the action of the 2005 NCAA Super Regional games between Tulane and Rice on either ESPN or ESPN2, while coverage in other areas of the country will bounce between games according to the network schedule and game situation.
Saturday's series opener, scheduled for a Noon (Central) first pitch at Tulane's Turchin Stadium, will air on ESPN2 at the same time as game two of the Georgia Tech-Tennessee series from Atlanta. While much of the country will see the Yellow Jackets and Volunteers on Saturday, fans with DirecTV can also see the Tulane-Rice game on the alternate ESPN2 channel. In addition, the network may choose to switch other parts of the country to the Tulane game during the day, and highlights of all games will be shown from the studio. Louisiana and Texas will see the Tulane-Rice game in its entirety and will not be switched, while fans in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee will see all of the Georgia Tech-Tennessee game.
On Sunday, the second Tulane-Rice game will be the primary contest on ESPN and shown to most of the nation beginning at Noon (Central). The only other game scheduled at that time is the potential game three of the Florida-Florida State series from Gainesville, Fla. and everyone in Florida and Georgia is guaranteed to see that game in its entirety. Again, DirecTV will carry both games with Tulane-Rice on ESPN (206) and Florida-Florida State (if played) on the alternate ESPN channel.
There are two possible times for a potential third game between Tulane and Rice on Monday, June 13. The game will be played at either Noon or 6 p.m., depending on the number of games played that day. The network for that game (ESPN or ESPN2), along with the game time, will be announced on Sunday if the teams split the first two games.
Fans with DirecTV Sports Package will pick up bonus games all weekend on ESPNU (Channel 609).
For information on which games will be shown in your area, consult your local listings. Additional information may also be available on espn.com.
