OMAHA, Neb. - It's been a long four years for me at Tulane but it was well worth the wait to be part of the second Green Wave team to make it to Omaha, Neb., for the College World Series. It was an incredible Super Regional at Turchin Stadium and, on behalf of the team, I would like to thank all of you guys that came out in record numbers to support us in the heat and help send us toward our goal of winning a national championship.
The series against Rice was incredible. After dropping the first game, we showed the heart and determination that have kept us strong all year in the final two games to punch our ticket to Omaha. Anyone who saw those last two or three innings of the finale could see the heart that our team plays with. It was such a proud moment for our team.
As for now, we're at the airport waiting to board our chartered flight to Omaha. Everyone is anxiously awaiting the Omaha experience and is eager to get on the field and show America how good we are. The "send-off" celebration as we boarded the bus outside the Wilson Center was incredible. All of you that were there surely felt the same excitement that the team shared to be greeted by such a loyal farewell. It's just a great testament to the role that our fans have played so far this season. You guys are such a huge part of the success of the `05 Green Wave.
We have a few eventful days ahead of us: team practice at Rosenblatt, ESPN camera shots, dinners, autograph sessions, opening ceremonies, etc. It's really going to be a great experience for us all. After that, though, it's down to baseball and we'll start to get focused on winning ballgames. Nobody wants this season to end because of how much fun we have together. Let's hope that things go well and we'll be in this for another week and a half. I hope to see you guys in Omaha. We'll do our best to bring home that National Championship. Until next time...
Roll Wave,
Tommy
