
Tulane Volleyball's Ashley Bernards Earns Academic All-District

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane volleyball junior defensive specialist Ashley Bernards received CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Third Team honors on Thursday, in a vote of the district's sports information directors. The McMinnville, Oregon native owns a 3.954 GPA in finance from the prestigious A.B. Freeman School of Business.
In 40 games with the Green Wave, Bernards has an average of 1.58 digs per game, including 2.56 this season. She was named Tulane's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2006-07 and is a recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Medal.
Bernards is a four-year member of the Dean's list and has earned the option of completing her finance degree in just three years. Bernards is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi fraternity and Alpha Lambda Delta. She has already been selected for a competitive internship with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young and is currently being considered for graduate school admission at numerous institutions.
The Green Wave (25-5 overall, 13-2 Conference USA) will look to extend their win streak to a season-best nine matches Friday against UTEP at Fogelman Arena at 5 p.m. Tulane is unbeaten at home this season (11-0).
The Green Wave have earned a C-USA tourney bye, but can gain a share of the regular season title with a win and a Marshall loss (to either UAB Friday or Memphis Sunday), or win the regular season crown outright with a win and a pair of Marshall losses.
