TULANE HEAD COACH Liz Kritza
On Jenn Miller setting the Tulane career digs record
"Jenn has had a fantastic career so far and all of her honors are so well deserved, but I think it is pretty special that she set the career digs record as a junior. She has redefined the libero position here at Tulane and it is only fitting that she would hold the record. For her to do it as a junior with 10 conference matches left to play is a testament the level of play and her intense desire to improve every match that she plays."
On what type of player Miller really is
"The fact that she did not even know that she was close and was not even focusing on it is a testament to exactly why she is that superior in that category. She is the epitome of a team player. She understands the importance of her role but she is not the type of kid who is looking for this kind of recognition. She just puts her head down and keeps working, and good things have happened for her. I think it is very fitting that it happened on `Dig For The Cure Night.' She handles the defensive load for us in many matches, especially tonight when it matters so much more because it is for a good cause."
Overall thoughts on the match
"It is good to defend our home record and a win is a win. It was not always pretty at times and I think they came out a little flat or a little too focused on the cause at hand. We sometimes let down in some areas that are usually strengths, but give credit to the team because they were able to regroup, get back in system and play our type of volleyball. That allowed us to separate ourselves from UNO at key points during the match."
On being able to run away with set No. 3
"Coming out of the break in set three, they came out and made the changes that I reminded of in the intermission. We got better tonight, not just because we got a win. We had some other people get some playing time tonight, so that is going to help with our depth as a team. I think we made significant step in being able to execute a game plan and hold ourselves to a higher standard, even when we are up 2-0."
TULANE JUNIOR LIBERO Jenn Miller
On setting the Tulane career digs record tonight against the Privateers
"I'm pretty floored that it happened tonight, and it is kind of ironic that it happened on `Dig For The Cure' night. I had no idea that I was even that close, and I did not expect to be that close so soon."
On the team's performance against the Privateers
"Coming off a weekend and starting off this quickly in the week - we haven't played a midweek match at all this year - so it was a different experience for all of us. We had practice on Monday when we are used to sort of going around and doing nothing and then coming in here tonight and had to play with tired legs, so it was good to see everyone still execute and do what we needed to do. We really didn't have too many misfires throughout the match, but I think that coming back in the third game and really putting it to them was a good sign. I think we looked good."
