Burks Earns First Team All-Conference Selection
Nov 20, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
IRVING, Texas – Tulane University junior Avery Burks garnered First Team All-Conference honors from the American Conference, the league office announced Thursday. This accolade marks Burks' second postseason recognition from the conference, following her selection as Freshman of the Year in 2023.
Burks becomes the first Green Wave player to earn First Team All-Conference honors in the American since Kayla Dinkins and Lexie Douglas achieved the feat in 2020. She is the fifth player in Tulane volleyball history to receive a first-team conference accolade since the program joined the league in 2014.
In the 2025 season, Burks led the offensive attack for Tulane, recording an impressive 440 kills – averaging 4.19 per set – and totaling 474.5 points. She ranked first in the league in total kills, points, total attacks, and attacks per set. Nationally, she placed 21st in total kills, 28th in points, and 42nd in kills per set.
Hailing from Gilbert, Arizona, Burks' impact extended beyond the attack. She finished second on the team in digs (406), with an average of 2.64 per set, and added 28 total blocks, ranking fifth on the team. Over 105 sets across 27 matches, she posted double-digit kills 24 times – including nine matches with at least 20 kills – and recorded 15 double-doubles combining kills and digs.
Burks also reached significant career milestones during her junior season. On October 12, she scored her 1,000th career point with a service ace against South Florida. Later, on October 31, she surpassed 1,000 career kills with a set-clinching kill in Tulane's victory over UTSA.
