MOBILE, Ala. – Tulane volleyball (5-2) bounced back into the win column Saturday with a convincing 3-0 sweep over Kennesaw State (5-3) at the South Alabama Invitational. The Green Wave held the Owls to just a .102 hitting percentage at the net while converting offensively with a .322 hitting percentage as a team in the sweep.

With the win, the Wave improved to 5-2 on the season including 2-1 in neutral site matches. The victory also marked Tulane's first win in program history over Kennesaw State and its second win over a Conference USA opponent this year.

The Green Wave used a balanced attack offensively to dominate the Owls at the net. Lauryn Mack once again paced Tulane with a team-high 10 kills to notch her fifth consecutive match with double figures. Six other players recorded at least one kill for the Wave including Chloe List with nine and Riley Tucker with eight. List also led the team with three total blocks while Tucker and Maddy McLin each added two.

Charlee Solomon continued her strong play on both sides of the ball as she tallied 29 assists, 10 digs, four kills, and three service aces. The duo of Makena Lim and Dayla Ortiz held down the back line of the Tulane defense recording 10 and nine digs, respectively.

Tulane faced its only deficit of the day at the beginning of the first set as Kennesaw State put the first three points on the board. The Green Wave answered with four consecutive points to take the lead.

Throughout the middle of the opening set the two teams went back and forth until meeting in a 12-12 tie. Tulane broke the tie with a 6-0 run to take control of the set before closing with a 6-1 run to win 25-15.

The Wave jumped in front of the Owls early in the second set eventually building a 12-8 lead after an ace from Solomon. A few points later another ace helped Tulane keep the pressure on extending the advantage to 20-14. The Green Wave went on to score the final three points of the set to win 25-17 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set Tulane and the Owls traded points early until the Green Wave broke away with four-straight points to take a 12-8 advantage. Kennesaw State briefly pulled back within one point (13-12), but the Wave was prepared with a response. Tulane closed the set on a 12-6 scoring run to win 25-18 and secure the 3-0 sweep of the Owls.

UP NEXT
The Green Wave will face the tournament host South Alabama on Sunday, September 13, in Mobile, Alabama. The match between Tulane and the Jaguars is schedule to start at 4 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.
