Green Wave Hosts Cal State Fullerton Thursday Afternoon

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane volleyball returns to Uptown looking for its third consecutive win as it hosts the Cal State Fullerton Titans inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Thursday. The match between the Green Wave and the Titans is slated for first serve at 4 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.

The Wave enters the matchup against Cal State Fullerton after posting a 2-1 performance over the weekend at the South Alabama Invitational in Mobile, Alabama. Tulane dropped its first match of the tournament to Duke on Friday before bouncing back with a sweep of Kennesaw State Saturday and a 3-1 victory over South Alabama on Sunday.

Sophomore Charlee Solomon earned all-tournament honors and weekly honorable mention recognition from the American Conference for her efforts in the South Alabama Invitational. She tallied 99 assists, 31 digs, 19 kills, and three service aces across the three matches for the Green Wave. Solomon also recorded her first career triple-double to lead the Wave to its 3-1 win over South Alabama posting 45 assists, 13 digs, and 10 kills.

Thursday's match marks just the second ever meeting between Tulane and Cal State Fullerton on the court. The Green Wave lost the previous matchup 0-3 at the TCU Volleyball Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 16, 2000.

The Wave holds a 4-5 record all-time against the current teams in the Big West including a 2-1 advantage at home. The last time Tulane faced a team from the Big West the Green Wave came away with the 3-2 victory at home over UC Riverside on September 19, 2024.

So far this season the Tulane offensive attack has been paced by four players with at least 60 total kills. Lauryn Mack leads the team with 95 kills followed by Chloe List with 82, Riley Tucker with 68, and Avery Burks with 64. Solomon has set up the attack for the Green Wave with a team-leading 288 assists which ranks third in the American.

Defensively, Dayla Ortiz leads the backline for the Wave with 92 digs on the year. She is followed by Solomon with 85, Makena Lim with 69, and Mack with 64. Up at the net for the Tulane defense three players have recorded at least 15 total blocks this season led by 25.0 from Tucker.

Following the matchup with the Titans, the Green Wave will welcome cross-town rival LSU New Orleans inside Devlin in Fogelman on Sunday, September 20. The match between the Wave and the Privateers is set for 12 p.m.
