Bernstein Advances to Finals for Tulane Men's Tennis

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Freshman Adam Bernstein advanced to the finals of his flight as the Tulane men's tennis team continued the Alabama Crimson Tide Invitational Saturday. Bernstein topped Trey Walston of host Alabama 7-5, 6-4, in the semifinals.
"Adam has continued to compete at a high level consistently today," head coach Mark Booras said. "He'll have a tough match tomorrow, but I hope that the confidence he's gained from the last three matches will help push him through."
Bernstein will meet Alex Emery of UAB in the Stabler Flight finals on Sunday.
In Doubles action, Bernstein and freshman Coby Kramer-Golinkoff teamed to beat Thomas Bellman and Nenan Marcec of Jacksonville State, 8-5 in the White flight round of 16. The tandem then advanced to the semifinals with a win over Vanderbilt's James Moore and Sam Wells, 8-4.
Freshman Rodrigo Rappaccioli and sophomore Shaye Wali won 8-4 over Bryan Kenyon and Axel Sundberg of Jacksonville State in the Crimson flight round of 16. In the quarterfinals, the duo fell to Alabama's Ricky Doverspike and Michael Thompson by a score of 8-5.
In the white flight, freshmen Joe Young and Etham Frenkel lost to Radford's tandem of Brett Cromwell and Igor Ogrizek, 8-6.
Young also participated in the consolation semifinals of the Namath flight, falling in tiebreakers to Davey Sandgren of Tennessee, 7-6, 7-6.
"We had some bright spots today," Booras continued. "Adam and Cody have a good opportunity to end on a high note with a doubles win tomorrow. We're really hoping to end this semester on a positive note."
The Alabama Crimson Tide Invitational concludes Sunday with the doubles semifinals and singles finals.
