NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane Green Wave indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the Armory New Balance Collegiate Invitational Saturday. In a vast field, Tulane posted quality section finishes against their peer groups.
In the weight throw, senior Katarina Busljeta posted a career-best 15.22-meter throw (49-feet, 11.25 inches), which ranks second on Tulane's all-time bests charts.
In the one-mile run, sophomore Rebecca Coady finished fifth in her section posting a time of 5:15, while freshman Johanna Gretschel came in ninth in 5:27. Redshirt freshman Julia Whitrock turned in a 17:09 time in the 5,000-meter, good for sixth in her section. Senior Keriann Langley's time of 18:02 placed 12th in her section.
Junior Oliva Kizzee took third in her heat in the 200-meter dash prelims, with a time of 25.23. Freshman Kasey Rodgers came in second in her heat, in 25.48; neither advanced to the final. Kizzee was fourth in her 400-meter heat, posting a 58.32 time, while sophomore Zandria Debowles placed second in her heat in 58.57.
Junior Arielle Minor's 9.90 time in the 60-meter hurdles was good for sixth in her heat. Minor also finished ninth in flight one of the long jump, with a distance of 5.02. Freshman Kelly Curtis put up a distance with 5.13 for sixth in her heat.
The Green Wave 4x400 relay team pulled out of the event for a 'DNF.'
Tulane is back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.
