TULSA, Okla. - Tulane sophomore Idan Mark's run in the 2010 D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships came to an end in the second round on Tuesday morning, falling to Sacramento State's Kiryl Harbatsiuk, the 75th-ranked player in the nation, in straight sets in qualifying singles at the University of Tulsa's Case Tennis Center.
Mark dropped the first set 6-2, but held his own in the second set before falling, 7-6, after losing the tie breaker.
"Idan unfortunately got off to a slow start today, but got himself back into a position where he was one point away from winning the 2nd set and evening the match," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We now have a better idea from these last two tournaments of Idan's level of play. We saw some of his strengths and weaknesses as well."
Mark won the first round of the qualifying singles on Monday, getting past Stanford's Denis Lin in three sets.
"When we get back we can tweak a couple of areas of his game over these next couple of weeks so when Regionals comes around he'll be ready to go," Booras concluded.
Mark and the rest of the Green Wave players will be off until Oct. 21 when they will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 2010 ITA Regionals.
