
Shepard Earns Academic All-Conference

NEW ORLEANS - Conference USA announced the 2010 Volleyball Academic All-Conference squad in Monday (Nov. 22) and for the third time in as many season, Tulane senior middle blocker Lindsey Shepard earned a spot on the 12-player squad. Shepard carries a 3.884 GPA in Biomedical Engineering and is among the conference leaders in attacking percentage and blocking.
Shepard, who also was selected to the All-Academic squad as a sophomore and junior, has carried sterling 3.884 GPA in the Biomedical Engineering program within the Tulane School of Science and Engineering. The Albuquerque, N.M. native was named the 2009-10 Tulane Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and has been a staple in the Tulane 3.0 Club and Conference USA Commissioners Honor Roll during her career.
This season, Shepard has started every match for the Green Wave and compiled a career-best 215 kills to go along with a .325 attacking percentage. She ranks seventh in Conference USA in attacking percentage, while sitting in ninth on the TU single season charts entering the final match. She will look to post her fourth straight season on 90-plus blocks, entering the tilt with USM having totaled 82 this season, and has added a career-best 81 digs this year.
For her career, Shepard ranks among the best in Tulane history at the net. She currently ranks fifth in blocking assists (317), sixth in total blocks (369) and ninth in solo blocks (52). The senior also ranks among the most efficient attackers in Tulane history, converting nearly thirty-percent of her attacks into kills, ranking eighth in school laurels.
Shepard and fellow senior Amaris Genemaras will look to close out their career's on a high note when the Green Wave host Southern Miss on Saturday, Nov. 27 at Fogelman Arena. It will be the final match of the season for the Olive and Blue and Senior Day festivities will take place before the 7:00 match.
