NEW ORLEANS - After winning the first three game of the four-game homestand, the Tulane men's basketball team looks to close it out with a win on Tuesday when they host in-state foe Nicholls State at 7 p.m. CT in Devlin Fieldhouse.
The Green Wave (6-2) is perfect at home this season, including wins over Southern, Loyola and Navy on the current homestand.
Nicholls State (1-3) plays its fourth game on the road this season and looks for its first win away from home. The Colonels' lone victory came over New Orleans, 92-79, in Thibodaux back on Nov. 26.
"We know this will be a tough challenge for us," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "Nicholls State brings a different style then we are used to so we know that we will have to be at our best to come away with the victory. Navy was a difficult challenge and our guys stepped up. They will have to step up to this challenge was well."
NSU comes into the game shooting 42.7 percent from the floor and 34.4 percent from 3-point land. The Colonels have allowed opponents to shoot 51.1 percent from the floor in the first four games of the season.
Senior guard Fred Hunter leads Nicholls with 21.7 points per game, while freshman guard T.J. Carpenter is posting an 11.8 points per game average.
Tulane comes in shooting 39.1 percent from the floor after hitting just 27.7 percent against Navy in last Saturday's win. The Green Wave also hit 34.1 percent from 3-point range.
Junior guard Josh Davis leads Tulane with 18.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. The Raleigh, N.C., native has also recorded a double double in six straight games. Sophomore guard Ricky Tarrant is next with 14.1 points a contest, while senior guard Jordan Callahan adds 11.9 points per outing.
This will be the 20th meeting between the two schools. Tulane has won 18 of the first 19 contests, including all 16 previous meetings in New Orleans. The Green Wave defeated the Colonels, 96-50, last season on Nov. 15 in Devlin Fieldhouse.
Tulane will travel West Coast to face the University of San Diego on Saturday for an 8 p.m. CT tip off in Jenny Craig Pavilion.
