BATON ROUGE - Tulane's men's tennis team saw its two-match win streak snapped on Friday evening by No. 28 LSU, 7-0, at the "Dub" Robinson Stadium.
The Green Wave (4-3) dropped the double points to the Tigers (4-2), but didn't go quietly. The duo of Takuma Ohashi and Adam Bernstein narrowly missed a victory on court three, falling to Neal Skupski and James Turbervill, 9-7, while the pair of Idan Mark and Joe Young fell, 8-5, to the 23rd ranked double team of Olivier Boroso and Chris Simpson on court one.
LSU won each singles match in straight sets, but Bernstein forced Stefan Szacinski into tie-breakers in each set, falling, 7-6, 7-6, on court four.
"We put ourselves in a great place to win the the doubles point but unfortunately it got away from us," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We fought hard in singles, but they got off to a great start and were able to pull away at a few positions which took the wind out of our sails. LSU is clearly a very tough team that will be amongst the top 25 all year. This was a good experience for us that we need to take to heart to allow us to continue improving and make even more gains in our conference standings the rest of this semester."
Tulane returns to the Goldring Tennis Center next Saturday to host Southern Miss to begin a three-match homestand.
