Men's Tennis to Compete at UTSA Futures

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Tulane men's tennis gets to test its skills against the professional ranks this weekend at the International Tennis Federation's USA Futures Championships at the Roger Scott Tennis Center.
"This is a great opportunity for the guys to play against different levels of opponents at this professional tournament," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We Has a great showing at regionals so the team is really growing a lot. We will use this weekend mostly as a learning experience by getting their feet wet at playing against another level of competition."
The qualifying draw will be announced Thursday night and singles play begins Friday morning. The qualifying draw will consist of 128 players with the winners advancing to the main draw event.
So far this fall Tulane has won 23 singles matches. Freshmen Jao Chi-Shan (5-1) and Sebastian Rey (5-2) along with sophomore Dominik Koepfer (5-3) have the most victories.
After this weekend, the Green Wave will close out the fall tournament schedule with a trip to Wilmington, N.C., for the UNCW Invitational Nov. 1-3.
