· Saturday's game marked the sixth meeting between Tulane and UCF. The Knights moved to 5-1 in the series, with a 3-0 advantage in Orlando.
· Today's game also marked the 52nd contest against a school from the state of Florida. The Green Wave have faced seven different schools from the Sunshine State (Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Miami, Tampa, UCF) and now have a 13-36-3 career record against them.
· With two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, Tulane created 4+ turnovers for the first time since they earned four vs. Tulsa on Oct. 26, 2013.
· Sophomore linebacker Edward Williams recorded his first career interception in the first quarter. He is now the sixth different defender to log an interception this season.
· At 4:55 in the third, redshirt freshman CB Parry Nickerson earned his third interception on the year, which leads all Green Wave players. The interception marked Tulane's 10th pick on the year and the third time Tulane netted two picks in a game this season (at Tulsa on Aug. 28 & vs. Southeastern on Sept. 13)
· Tulane recovered two fumbles for the second straight week and for the third time this season (previous vs Georgia Tech and UConn). Senior LB Matthew Bailey forced the first fumble off UCF's P Caleb Houston. It was recovered by redshirt freshman Tristan Cooper. The second forced fumble was caused by senior DE Tyler Gilbert, recovered by senior CB Brandon LeBeau. It marked the first fumble recoveries for both Cooper and LeBeau this season.
· With interceptions by Edward Williams and Parry Nickerson and fumble recoveries by Tristan Cooper and Brandon LeBeau, Tulane has forced at least one turnover in all seven games so far in 2014 to bring the season total to 18. The Green Wave have also now recorded at least one turnover in their last 16 games. The last time Tulane did not force a turnover came on Sept. 21, 2013 at Syracuse.
· Junior punter Peter Picerelli booted a season long 61-yard punt today, the third longest of his career. Picerelli punted four times for 189 yards, good for a 47.2 average.
· In his return to his home state, freshman kicker Andrew DiRocco secured his first multiple field goal game of his career. At 5:12 in the first quarter, DiRocco connected on a 21-yarder, then at 11:14 in the third quarter, DiRocco sent a 42-yard field goal through the uprights. The 42-yarder marked a career long, besting his previous mark of 38 yards vs UConn on Oct. 11.
· Tulane's defense did not allow a third down conversion until 9:20 left in the second quarter, as UCF started the game 0-5. It marked the second time this season the Green Wave didn't allow their opponent to earn a third down conversion in the first quarter (previously achieved vs. Southeastern on Sept. 13).
· UCF entered today's contest 5-for-7 (71 percent) on fourth down conversions, which ranked 18th in the nation and first in the American. Tulane's defense caused the Knights to go 0-2 on Saturday.
· Redshirt-freshman Sherman Badie added 55 more rushing yards on 14 carries today to his season resume. On the year, he has now run 84 times for 589 yards (7.0 avg) and three touchdowns. With an average of 81.1 yards per game to date, he is currently on pace to finish the year with 995 yards which would surpass the Tulane freshman rushing record of 925 set by Orleans Darkwa in 2010.
· By holding UCF to 94 rushing yards on 38 carries, Tulane has now held an opponent to under 100 yards for the third time so far in 2014 and for the second consecutive week. The Green Wave previously held Southeastern Louisiana to 58 yards on 36 totes back on Sept. 13 and UConn to 76 yards on 28 attempts.
· With 11:36 remaining in the game, redshirt sophomore Lazedrick Thompson earned a nine-yard touchdown run to cut the Tulane deficit to 20-13. It marked Thompson's third rushing TD on the season which ties Sherman Badie for the lead.
· Seven Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks on Saturday against UConn: junior SS Darion Monroe (32) junior CB Lorenzo Doss (29), senior FS Sam Scofield (20), junior OL Arturo Uzdavinis (20) and senior OL Sean Donnelly (18).
· The Green Wave held UCF to 139 yards passing, marking the fourth of its last six opponents they've held to under 200 yards passing (Duke - 181; UConn - 141; Georgia Tech - 15).
· Tulane recorded nine tackles for loss in today's game The Wave have now tallied at least four tackles behind the line of scrimmage in each of the last 21 games dating back to the 2012 season finale. The last time Tulane had less than four tackles for loss was on Nov. 17, 2012, when the Green Wave had one sack against East Carolina.
· Tulane's game captains for Saturday's contest at UCF were red-shirt sophomore C Nathan Shienle representing the offense, junior DE Royce LaFrance representing the defense and freshman PK Andrew DiRocco representing special teams.
· Sophomore LB Nico Marley had the honor of carrying the No. 18 flag onto the field before Saturday's game. The flag has been a mainstay at Tulane football games in honor of Devon Walker, who suffered a career-ending spinal injury during the 2012 season which left him paralyzed.
