Coach Momic's Quotes Following Friday's Loss To UCF

Overall thoughts on the match
"The effort was there and what we tried to accomplish today was to just play how they play in every practice. For some reason, we've had issues this year performing in a match, playing too nervous and not performing like we know we can. We see it every day in practice and today we tried to take things as just another practice see how it comes out. I think it showed. The girls played a little more relaxed and without the burden they've been putting on themselves and they competed really well against the No. 1 team in the conference. For me, it's not a surprise. I see it every day. We just have to figure out how to change those little things and those couple of points that we lose each match that the opponent gets. We have to figure out how to pass just a little bit better, how to set a little bit better and take the small steps that we know we can accomplish. We have the weapons. We have everything. We just need execution in every skill at just a little higher level to really be more competitive in this conference."
On the team being able to come back in sets two, three and four before ultimately falling short
"We came in relaxed. In game one, when the girls saw that we can put the other team in trouble if we play well, they understood that, got motivated and kept fighting. In the end, it was little things that cost us points at the end. It's important for the girls to understand that they're quality players - they're young, they're athletic, they're tall. They just have to understand that it'll take time to develop fully to play consistently to their potential. That's what we're missing right now. When we're playing well, we're playing well against everybody. Our record doesn't always show that, but it's obvious that when we're on we put everybody in trouble. I keep saying it, but it's just a matter of time that those percentages will jump up by five or 10 percent and make all the difference in this team."
On who stood out during today's match
"Tea [Juric] showed, especially offensively, what she's capable of. We tried to run more back-row sets for her on the pipe and she was very successful hitting from her position on the left-front. She's one of our players that is young, not fully developed yet with a ton of potential. Kenzie [Frieden] did a decent job at the libero position. Overall, we had a good match."
On looking forward to potentially sending the seniors out on a high note on Sunday
"That was the goal for this week. With every senior class, we want to make it a good performance and a special day for them. Anna [Wruck] and Grace [Weaver] have gone through a lot and we want to make sure we send them off with a good performance and a good match on Sunday."
