NEW ORLEANS -The 55th-ranked Tulane men's tennis team remained perfect at home this spring after Saturday's, 4-0, dual match victory over visiting Wisconsin at the Pepsi City Park Tennis Center.
The Green Wave (5-1), who opened a three-match home stand on Saturday, claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three and then earned the first three singles matches with straight sets wins.
"This is a great win for our program," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "Last year we had a tough battle with Wisconsin and came out on the losing end. To turn it around and take them down this year is a good confidence builder for our guys, showing them how much they've improved and how their hard work is paying off."
The duos of Dominik Koepfer and Chi-Shan Jao and Alex Van Cott and Ian Van Cott picked up doubles wins. Koepfer and Jao defeated Wisconsin pair of Alexander Kokorev and Jakhongir Jalalov, 6-2, on court one, while the Van Cott twins upended Lamar Remy and Darius Mackenzie, 6-1, on court three.
Koepfer, the ninth-ranked singles player in the nation, got things started in singles with a, 6-1, 6-1, victory over Kokorev on court one. Ian Van Cott picked up the third point of the match for Tulane with a, 6-1, 6-3, win over John Zordani on court six.
Freshman Constantin Schmitz clinched the match for the Green Wave with a, 6-2, 6-3, victory over Josef Dodridge on court four.
Tulane will return to the courts on Friday when they host DePaul at 1 p.m. CT at the Pepsi City Park Tennis Center.
