Saturday's meeting between Tulane and Tulsa marked the 12nd meeting between the two schools. With the win, Tulsa now leads the series, 10-2, including 4-2 in New Orleans.
Tulane posted 25 first downs on the evening, setting a season-high that surpassed their previous mark of 21 from their contest at Navy on Oct. 24.
Tulane amassed 530 yards of offense, setting a new season high, surpassing their previous high of 497 set against Maine back on Sept. 19.
The Green Wave posted 6.0 tackles for loss against Tulsa, giving them 90 for the season. Entering the game, Tulane was third in The American in the category and 14th nationally.
Tulane produced three double-digit drives tonight, giving the team 20 drives of 10 or more on the year.
Senior SS Darion Monroe picked off the third pass of the season and the sixth of his career with 3:12 remaining in the first half.
With Monroe's interception in the first half, Tulane now has a turnover in 44 of 49 games under head coach Curtis Johnson, including nine of 12 games this year. Monroe's interception was the 16th turnover of the year, and the 103rd in 49 games under Johnson.
Redshirt-senior QB Jordy Joseph hit sophomore RB Dontrell Hilliard on a shovel pass that Hilliard turned into a 66-yard touchdown romp. The play marked the third-longest completion of the season by the Green Wave, and also marked a career-long pass for Joseph, as well as a career-long reception for Hilliard.
Senior DE Royce LaFrance finished the game with 1.5 sacks, giving him 6.5 on the season and 20.0 for his career. LaFrance remains in third place in school history in the category, just 1.5 behind Floyd Dorsey's (1999-2002) 21.5.
Redshirt-senior QB Jordy Joseph finished the contest with a career-best 343 yards while throwing for a career-best four touchdowns. The four touchdowns tied a season-high for a Tulane quarterback, as redshirt-sophomore QB Tanner Lee tossed four against UCF on Oct. 3.
With his 343 passing yards, Joseph became the 16th quarterback to pass for 300 yards in a game at Tulane and also tied for the 35th best passing performance in school history.
Freshman WR Andrew Hicks posted his first-career touchdown reception when Joseph found him on a 34-yard strike with 7:40 remaining in the fourth quarter. The reception was Hicks' lone catch on the night.
On his lone punt of the evening, senior P Peter Picerelli set the school record for career punts with 250, passing Chip Clark (1990-93). Picerelli's punt went for 39 yards, also breaking the all-time punting yardage record with 9,926, surpassing another record previously held by Clark.
With his fourth reception on the evening - a seven-yard reception in the fourth quarter - sophomore WR Teddy Veal surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for his career.
Freshman RB Devin Glenn posted a 36-yard kickoff return during the contest, posting a career-high while also notching a team season-high. Sophomore TE Trey Scott hauled in a 35-yard pass from redshirt-senior QB Jordy Joseph late in the fourth quarter, marking a career-long for the tight end.
Tulane honored its 2015 senior class prior to kick off on Friday. OL Bob Bradley, OL Colton Hanson, P/K Logan Hilton, QB Jordy Joseph, RB Rob Kelley, DE Royce LaFrance, WR Alec Macias, SS Darion Monroe, P Peter Picerelli, DT Corey Redwine, OL Nathan Shienle, K Trevor Simms, DT Calvin Thomas and OL Arturo Uzdavinis were given their framed jerseys before the game. Also joining the group were former players OL Alex Paul and WR Walker "Fudge" Van Hooser.
Nine Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks on Friday against Tulsa: OG Chris Taylor (27), LB Nico Marley (25), OG Colton Hanson (24), DT Tanzel Smart (24), DE Royce LaFrance (23), CB Parry Nickerson (21), LB Jarrod Franklin (12), OT Todd Jacquet (12) and WR Teddy Veal (12).
One Tulane player jumped back into the double-digit consecutive starts category in senior SS Darion Monroe. Monroe started in all 48 games in which he played, but did not play at Georgia Tech on Sept. 12.
Junior LB Eric Thomas carried out the No. 18 Flag in honor of former Green Wave player Devon Walker.
Tulane's game captains for Friday's contest against Tulsa were the 2015 Senior Class. The four players who went out for the coin flip were OL Arturo Uzdavinis, DT Corey Redwine, SS Darion Monroe and DE Royce LaFrance.
