
Two Green Wave squads earn American Academic Excellence Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Tulane women's track & field team and the women's swimming & diving team earned the American Athletic Conference Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by Commissioner Mike Aresco Tuesday afternoon. The award recognizes the team with the highest group GPA in each conference sport.
The selections are made by the conference's Academic Affairs Committee. The winners were chosen based on the 2014-15 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
Women's swimming & diving recently brought home its seventh straight CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honor. Joy Jason's hard work in the classroom earned her a 4.0 during Spring semester, while 11 of her teammates boasted a 3.5 GPA or better.
Women's track & field was also honored nationally for its work in the classroom, earning USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors with a 3.38 cumulative GPA. Laruschka Joubert, Lilla McMillan, Daliadiz Ortiz and Mary Carson Pitts earned were also honored by the USTFCCCA, earning All-Academic individual accolades.
