NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball will host three additional camps this offseason at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, assistant coach and director of baseball camps Gabe Boruff announced this week. The winter camp slate kicks off with the Holiday Elite Hitting Camp and the Holiday Junior Elite Hitting Camp on Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4 respectively, followed by the Green Wave Winter Prospect Camp on Saturday, January 21.
Open to 20 campers between 13 and 18 years old, the Holiday Elite Hitting Camp will feature seven hours of instruction from current Tulane coaches and players. The day begins at 11:00 a.m., with registration open up to an hour before. Following a dynamic stretching session, participants will be coached on grip, barrel awareness, weight transfer and other aspects of the hitting game. Players will then receive instruction on their swing with side-by-side video recording.
The following day, Tulane will host the Holiday Junior Elite Hitting Camp, open to 24 players ages 8-12. Beginning at 12:00 p.m., participants will receive much of the same instruction offered to older players with one-on-one video analysis of each hitter's swing.
The Winter Prospect Camp caps off the winter schedule on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. The camp is open to a maximum of 60 players graduating from high school between 2017 and 2020. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., players will work through both offensive and defensive skill rotations, using live play to focus on specific in-game skills.
Participants in all winter camps will receive a Tulane baseball t-shirt as well as access to the entire Tulane baseball facility, including the indoor cages, weight room, locker room and playing field. All camps will be led by current Tulane coaches and staff at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Parents of interested athletes can visit www.TulaneBaseballCamp.com for more information or to register for either camp. Registration is open until all spots are filled. For questions, parents should contact Gabe Boruff at gboruff@tulane.edu.
