
Baseball Wins Conference Series On Saturday With 8-1 Victory Over Wichita State

WICHITA, KS – The Tulane baseball team (17-16, 4-5 American) won the final contest of the three-game conference series over Wichita State (21-12, 5-4 American) by an 8-1 margin on Saturday, April 4, to take the road set at Eck Stadium.
J.D. Rodriguez (4-0) started for Tulane was brilliant in going 6.1 innings with just four hits plus one run allowed with four strikeouts. Jack Brafa was the first man out of the bullpen. He threw two full innings with one strikeout. Sam Larson closed the game out inducing a foul pop out and ground out to end the contest.
Jason Wachs led the charge for the offense with three hits, two runs, and two RBIs. His three hits were a pair of doubles and a home run. Matthias Haas also recorded three hits and scored two runs. Nate Johnson had two hits, two runs and two RBIs. James Agabedis scored a pair of runs and drove in two with a home run. Hugh Pinkney picked up a hit and a run scored. Kaikea Harrison tallied a hit. Trent Liolios knocked in a run.
WSU's Johnny Nuanez (3-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs in 1.2 innings thrown.
Tulane scored first with a run in the opening inning on a Liolios RBI ground out.
The Green Wave exploded for three two-out runs in the second inning on a Nate Johnson two-run single just off the leaping shortstop's glove followed by a Wachs RBI double to the gap in right center.
Tulane added a pair more to the advantage, 6-0, in the third inning on an Agabedis two-run blast to right field. It was his third home run of the year.
The Shockers broke through with a run in the sixth, 6-1, on Alex Ulloa's two-out double.
The Green Wave got the run back in the top of the eighth in Chin's sacrifice fly.
Tulane added one more to tally in the ninth on a Wachs blast to straight away centerfield. It was his third home run of the season.
Next, Tulane stays on the road and travels to Beaumont, Texas to take on Lamar on Tuesday, April 7, at 5:05 p.m.

Jason Wachs extended his on-base streak to 59 games from the end of last season and the first 33 games this year with three hits and a hit by pitch against Wichita State in the third game…The 59 games is a career high… J.D.
