The Shockers scored first on Owen Washburn's solo blast in the opening frame.
The Green Wave threatened in the second inning with a pair of runners on base with one out via back-to-back walks, but could not capitalize as a ground out and a fly out ended the frame.

WSU capitalized with back-to-back two-out hits in the third. Jacob Gutierrez had the second of the two hits to drive in the second run of the game.
