Mar 11, 2016 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS - No. 29 Tulane baseball clubbed 11 hits, including five for extra bases, in an 11-6 victory over Furman on Friday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium that saw Green Wave starter Corey Merrill fan seven across 7.0 innings.
How It Was Won
Despite falling in a 3-0 hole after the top of the first, Tulane (9-5) matched Furman's (7-6) run output in the bottom half of the frame when Lex Kaplan posted an RBI-double followed by a two-run home run by Hunter Hope. In the bottom of the second, the Green Wave took the lead once and for all with a sacrifice fly by Grant Brown to score Richard Carthon.
Quote
"It's tough sometimes when you struggle early, but when you continue to make pitches is what was most impressive about Corey Merrill tonight. We did a great job of hitting (Furman starter) Will Gaddis' mistakes. We got in a position where we got pitches to hit."
-Tulane baseball head coach David Pierce.
