JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Tulane's track and field squad competed in four events on the final day of the NCAA East Regionals at Hodges Field on Saturday, but no mark qualified for a chance to head to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, and two highly decorated seniors in Lilla McMillan and Tamika Brazzel wrapped up their collegiate careers.
Women's Results
Junior Taylor Potts posted her second-best mark of the season in the shot put with a throw of 15.23 meters (49-11.75). Potts placed 27th two weeks after setting the school record in the event at The American Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Orlando.
McMillan's illustrious collegiate career came to an end on Saturday, as the Mill Valley, California, native competed in the 200 meter dash quarterfinals. McMillan placed 22nd with a time of 23.44, which was the third fastest time on the season for the senior.
McMillan wasn't done on the day, however, as she joined forces with Jessica Duckett, Jasmine Blocker and Jessica Adamson for the 4 x 400 meter relay. The quartet ran a 3:38.71, placing 17th.
Finally, Brazzel competed in her final meet in the Olive and Blue, placing 31st in the triple jump. The Oceanside, California, native posted a mark of 12.54 meters (41-1.75)

"I think more times than not, we leave a track meet with mixed emotions. There are obviously some great performances like we saw out of Jasmine Blocker in the 400 meters (on Friday), and often times, there are tough performances we need to absorb, examine and learn from. We need to find ways to get better in the future so we don't repeat certain things. Right now, the thing I'm realizing is that we just saw a couple seniors whose collegiate careers came to an end tonight in Lilla and Tamika. They've both given a lot to this program, and I'm really proud of both of them, the work they've done and the contributions they've made to our team. I am sorry that we are not going to have them on our team moving forward, but at the same time, obviously happy that they are going to move onto bigger and better things in their lives. Outside of them, we have a lot of youth on this team. We have some great athletes who will return next year and they will be able to learn from the experiences they had this year and get better and hopefully create different results that will get them and our team to the national meet." ~Tulane director of track and field Eric Peterson
