In addition to Duckett, two incoming freshmen in Brandi Hughes and Maya Harewood competed in the event, running as unattached athletes before they arrive in the fall as members of the Tulane track and field program.
Duckett placed eighth in the event after qualifying on Friday with a time of 60.02. The rising sophomore won The American Outdoor Track and Field Championships gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles while finishing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and helping the 4 x 400 meter relay capture gold, as well.
Hughes ran the 100 meter hurdles in 14.02 during the preliminaries on Saturday. Harewood finished 17th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.27, just .12 seconds away from qualifying for the finals. However, Harewood qualified for Sunday's finals in the 200 meter dash, finishing eighth in 24.09 on Saturday evening.
Hughes hails from Skyline High School in Sammamish, Washington, while Harewood is also from Washington, having prepped at Bothell High School in Bothell, Wash.
