The honor is given to teams with an NCAA DI APR in top 10% of respective sport
INDIANAPOLIS – Tulane's men's track and field and cross country programs have been named recipients of the NCAA Public Recognition Award for the 2014-15 academic year, announced the NCAA this past weekend.
The award is bestowed on teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
Tulane's men's cross country team is one of four teams in The American Athletic Conference who earned the honors, joining Temple, Houston and Memphis. The track and field squad is one of only two league schools honored, as Cincinnati also picked up the recognition.
The honor is nothing new to either program, as the men's cross country team has earned the NCAA Public Recognition Award on five other occasions (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12). The men's track squad has picked up the award during five other seasons (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2013-14).
