2016-17 WGOLF Printable Tournament Schedule
NEW ORLEANS – With the next women's golf season just under two months away, Tulane head coach Lorne Don announced the 2016-17 slate that gets underway Sept. 16 at the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt. The schedule features four fall and five spring tournaments, once again capped by the American Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by UCF in Palm Coast, Florida, starting on April 16.
"We are really excited about the schedule we have put together for the 2016-2017 season," Tulane head coach Lorne Don stated. "As in previous years, our team will compete against the top teams in the country week in and week out and we look forward to the challenge that brings."
The Green Wave's fall schedule is once again highlighted by the Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern, which features eight of the top 13 teams from the 2015-16 Golfstat final year-end rankings: No. 2 USC, No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 Northwestern, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 10 Arizona and No. 13 Georgia.
The Wave will then wrap fall play with back-to-back trips to the lone-star state starting with the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Oct. 17-18, followed by the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Oct. 23-25.
Tulane will kick-off the spring portion of their schedule in familiar territory when they head to Orlando for the UCF Challenge, Feb. 5-7, marking the seventh straight year the Wave have competed in the tournament.
Then the Green Wave will return home to host the seventh annual Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship, Feb. 19-21, at English Turn Country Club. The 17-team field features seven teams ranked inside the top-20 in last season's final Golfstat rankings, as Tulane will once again look to topple No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Oklahoma State and No. 10 Arizona.
Next, the Wave will continue its competitive slate in Houston, Feb. 27-28, for the Cougar Invitational, which features nine top-40 teams, then will have a month off to prepare for the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, March 24-26, where they'll contend against the likes of No. 4 Duke, No. 9 Washington and No. 12 Arkansas. The final regular season tournament will see the Green Wave head to Sunset, South Carolina, March 31-April 2, for the Clemson Invitational, which boasts eight top-40 teams in its field.
Lastly, NCAA Regionals is scheduled to begin on May 8, while the NCAA Championships are set to begin on May 19 in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
