Green Wave to clash with Columbia, Memphis and host Alabama
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane men's tennis team will make its 2016-17 on Friday when it competes in the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A hidden dual format, the Green Wave will clash Columbia, fellow American Athletic Conference foe Memphis and host Alabama over the three-day event.
On Friday, Tulane will compete in doubles, followed by singles action, against Columbia starting at 9 a.m. CT. The Wave will then square off against Alabama at 6 p.m. in doubles only. On Saturday, Tulane will resume action against the Crimson Tide with singles play starting at 8 a.m.
The Olive and Blue will then wrap the three-day event with doubles and singles against Memphis on Sunday at 9 a.m. Last spring, the Wave swept the Tigers at home 7-0, then shutout Memphis once more, 4-0, at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
Speaking of last spring, the Green Wave are coming off of its best season in 11 years, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finishing with a No. 31 national team ranking. Tulane will look to carry that momentum over to the fall, utilizing its entire roster this weekend, which includes seniors Sebastian Rey and Chi-Shan Jao, junior Constantin Schmitz (ranks No. 66 in singles), sophomores Eric Wagner and Tyler Schick and freshmen Jonathan Star, Chase Schupp, Tim Ruetzel and Luis Erlenbusch.
