Women's Tennis Finishes Play at ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. - Following a busy first day, Tulane women's tennis team completed its second full day of competition at the 2017 ITA Southern Regional on Saturday .
In singles, sophomore Christina Sisti opened play in the third round of the singles B-draw after consecutive, straight-set victories on Friday. She took the first set against Louisiana Tech's Sonia Chen, 7-6, but dropped the second frame, 6-2, before falling, 10-8, in the third set tiebreaker.
In three main draw consolation, second round singles matches, the Green Wave fell short despite sophomore Ivone Alvaro and sophomore Laura Fabrizi earning wins in the first round of the draw on Friday.
In doubles, Alvaro and senior Sade Atkinson built on Friday's first round victory by defeating the No. 2 overall seed in the main draw - a duo from Auburn 8-7(3) - to advance to the quarterfinals, but were topped, 8-2, by a team from Ole Miss to end their impressive run through the draw.
