HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – Tulane women's golf closed out play at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday, shooting an 11-over 295 in the final round to finish the two-day tournament in 15th at 919 (+67).
Fighting through windy conditions on Chicago's north shore, the Green Wave recorded the fifth-best final round of the second day, led by sophomore Gabrielle Correia's 70 (-1). Tulane battled a challenging Northmoor Country Club course layout over Monday's 36-hole first day to card a 311 (+27) in first round and 313 (+29) in the second round.
Junior Laura Munoz shot a 223 (+10) to tie for 39th among the 81-player field. In leading the way for the Wave, she posted Tulane's only other round of par or better with a 70 (E) in the second round.
"After a tough, first two rounds, I challenged the team to come out, show character and fight and they did that today," head coach Lorne Don said. "We will build on that for our next tournament."
Next up, the Green Wave travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Oct. 13-15 for the 2017 Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Classic at the Finley Golf Course.
