Schick Wins Qualifying Draw at USTA Futures Pro Circuit Event

NICEVILLE, Fla. - Tulane junior men's tennis player Tyler Schick won his fourth qualifying singles match in as many days Monday to advance at a USTA Futures pro circuit event at the Bluewater Bay Tennis Center.

With the victory, Schick clinches a spot in the 32-player main draw, which begins Tuesday. He will face the No. 7 overall seed in the draw, Alexios Halebian, a U.S. player who owns an ITF world ranking of 595.

A Short Hills, N.J., native, Schick met third seeded Isaiah Strode in Monday's qualifying final just one day after defeating No. 15 seed Rowland Phillips of Jamaica. Schick dropped the first set to Strode, 7-5, but responded with victories in the subsequent two sets, 6-3 and 6-4, to close out the victory and advance.

Schick is enjoying a strong fall campaign at the collegiate level, owning a 10-3 singles mark which includes four wins over top-100 opponents. He was also named American Athletic Conference Player of the Month for September.
