BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Green Wave indoor track & field squad added three additional medals and another school record in day two of the American Athletic Conference Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex Arena, closing out the indoor season with a fifth-place conference finish on a score of 51 points. Tulane finished the weekend with a total of five podium finishes and two school records, with nine athletes scoring points towards the team total and 11 personal bests. The fifth-place team effort was Tulane's highest-ever finish in the American Athletic Conference.
QUOTE
"I'm very pleased with our team's results this weekend. The American is a very competitive league, and we felt that a fifth-place finish would have been a really high watermark going into the meet. By competing as well as we did across the board and securing fifth place at this stage in the growth and development of our program, I'm very happy. The five women that we got on the podium are really the core of our team in terms of leadership and performance. The future is very bright for Tulane track & field."

HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY TWO OF THE AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tulane's first two medal-winners of the day came in the 60m hurdles finals, where sophomore Jessica Duckett tied the school record she had set the day before (8.44) to finish just .002 second behind the leading runner from UCF for a silver medal. Freshman Brandi Hughes would also land on the podium, setting a personal best of 8.48 to clinch the bronze.
Senior Taylor Potts set the second school record of the weekend, breaking her previous career-high mark in the shot put by a foot and a half with a toss of 15.98m (55-4.25). Just two centimeters out of second place, Potts would take home the bronze in her final conference meet with the Green Wave.
Tulane also scored points in the 800 meter, where redshirt senior Jessica Adamson set a career best in the race to finish just off the podium in fourth place. The Green Wave's remaining scorers on the day were freshmen, with Maya Harewood finishing in eighth in the 400 meter (56.16) and Sarah Cella coming away with a seventh-place effort in the 800 (2:16.12).
The Green Wave closed out the meet with a season-best time of 3:48.86 in the 4x400 meter relay on a strong effort from Duckett, Harewood, Cella and Adamson.
