Elena Muller wins lone singles match for Wave

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Tulane women's tennis team (11-4) jumped on No. 47 Texas (3-3) on Friday afternoon when they claimed the doubles point and took the 1-0 lead, but the Longhorns turned the tide in singles on Saturday morning, eventually earning the 4-2 victory at the Blue-Gray Classic.

Ivone Alvaro and Sade Atkinson improved to 4-0 as s doubles pairing last night, earning a 6-3 win on court two. Naz Karagoz and Elena Muller then clinched with a 6-4 victory over No. 35 Petra Granic/Dani Wagland, marking their second top-50 ranked win in this week alone.

However, Texas garnered the momentum in singles, claiming straight-set victories on courts two, three and six, jumping out to a 3-1 lead. Muller tried to get the Wave back on track with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win on court five over Dani Wagland, improving to 9-2 this spring in the process. Yet, Texas then clinched with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win on court four.

Last, but certainly not least, Karagoz's match went unfinished on court one, as the junior battled No. 39 Bianca Turati into a third set. It marked the second straight day Karagoz took a top-40 ranked opponent into a third set before it went unfinished.
