NEW ORLEANS – The No. 25 Tulane men's tennis team (10-2) capped off a perfect weekend at City Park on Sunday by recording their second straight 7-0 sweep, this time over Middle Tennessee (5-10). As a result, the Green Wave remain unblemished at home, now 8-0 this spring.
"This was a great platform for us to build on, heading into the San Diego Tournament this week. We beat two very good teams this weekend after a long break off," Tulane head coach Mark Booras said. "We've had a few guys sick/injured, but everyone stepped up. We played really complete from start to finish, and when we had them in our grips we didn't let go today."
Tulane's recently changed doubles pairings certainly paid off on Sunday, as the Wave only dropped three games across all three courts on their way to the 1-0 lead.
In singles, Tyler Schick was once again the first to wrap up, cruising to a 6-3, 6-0, win on court four, winning his seventh straight in the process to improve to 9-1 on the year. Both No. 118 Sebastian Rey and No. 125 Ewan Moore earned 6-1, 6-3, wins, as the latter picked up his fifth straight victory.
Chi-Shan Jao toughed out a 10-2 third set super tiebreak victory on court six while Luis Erlenbusch pushed ahead tied 5-5 in the second to garner the 6-2, 7-5 win on court five.
No. 38 Constantin Schimtz was the last to finish, recording a 6-4, 7-5 win over Tom Moonen on court one, improving to 9-1 this spring.
Up next, the Green Wave look to win their fourth straight and then some when they compete in the San Diego Invitational, starting on Thursday, March 16.
