Three Swimmers Garner CSCAA Scholar All-America Honorable Mentions

NORFOLK, Va. - Tulane women's swimming & diving senior Ellie Sills and freshmen Olivia Johnson and Jordan Morling have been named College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Honorable Mentions, according to an announcement by the organization.
"Between the athletic and academic components required to receive the award, these really are some of the best of the best," CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield explained. "It really shows that excellence in the classroom and the pool can be achieved at any program – not just pockets here or there."
The CSCAA selected a record 997 swimmers and divers from 273 colleges and universities across all divisions for its Scholar All-America team, honoring student-athletes that achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. In addition to the 997 first-team selections, 954 students were named as Honorable Mentioned selections. Those student-athletes also met the 3.5 GPA requirements and recorded a NCAA "B" time standards or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.
Sills closed her collegiate career holding the school record in the 200 fly (54.34) and owns the top eight overall times in the event in school history. She ranks third all-time in the 200 IM (2:03.10) and has six of the top 15 overall times in the 100 fly.
Johnson crushed her own school record in the 200 IM by more than five seconds, stopping the clock at 4:12.79 and earning a silver medal at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships. The West Lafayette, Ind., native concluded her first collegiate season with four of the five top times in program history, including the top three. Morling also enjoyed a successful debut campaign, turning in season-best times of 100 backstroke (58.77), 200 backstroke (1:59.06), 200 IM (2:06.73) and 400 IM (4:24.06).
