USA Swimming Nationals Event Information
INDIANAPOLIS - Rising sophomore and Tulane swimmer Olivia Johnson will compete in the women's 400 IM at the 2017 USA Swimming Nationals and World Championship trials at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis on Thursday, June 29.
"I'm so proud of Olivia for achieving her goal of competing at this meet," head coach Katie Robinson said. "This is definitely something very exciting for her and it's a great opportunity for her to showcase her skills on one of the biggest stages."
A West Lafayette, Ind., native, Johnson is seeded with the 28th-fastest time on the 400 IM heat sheet with a time of 4:50.26.
"She's from Indiana and it's awesome that she gets to swim in her home state and just about an hour outside of her hometown," Robinson said. "I know she's excited and all of her friends and family are as well."
During her freshman campaign with the Green Wave in 2016-17, Johnson earned All-American Athletic Conference honors after claiming a silver medal in the 200 IM with a time of 4:12.79 at the league's championship meet in Houston in February. She closed her debut season with four of the top five times in the event in program history, including the top three.
