Tulane Swimming and Diving Welcomes LSU and Loyola on Friday
Oct 25, 2018 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's swimming and diving team returns to action on Friday, as it welcomes LSU and Loyola New Orleans to the Reily Student Recreation Center Natatorium.
Â
The meet is set to begin at 4:45 p.m. and will feature 16 events against its in-state opponents.
Â
The Green Wave is coming off a two-day meet in Denver, Colorado where they competed against Rice, FIU and meet host Denver. Tulane fell in each of its head-to-head matchups last weekend.
Â
Despite coming up short in the early going of the season, first-year head coach Leah Stancil remains confident about where the team is at heading into its fourth competition of the season.
Â
"They whole team has been doing great with their training and challenging themselves," Stancil said. "I'm just looking forward to seeing how our team competes and how they handle pressure and this will be a great test for them this week."
Â
Through three head-to-head matchup this year, the Green Wave have been led by sophomore Kate McDonald and junior Olivia Johnson, as both posted a pair of winning performances last weekend.
Â
"They are team leaders and both of them have done really well," Stancil said. "They both really challenge one another, they challenge themselves and they challenge their teammates, so their performance in the pool is not very surprising at all for the amount of work that they do."
