Tulane Women’s Golf Opens Strong at the Battle at the Beach

LOS CABOS, Mexico – The Tulane University women's golf team opened competition Friday on a high note at the 2018 Battle of the Beach and are tied for fourth following an opening round score of 298.

The three-day event is being held at the par 71, 6,202-yard Club Campestre San Jose Golf Club.
Â
Tulane freshman Isabella Cardenas highlighted day one play for the Green Wave, as she posted a score of even par, 71 and is currently tied for fourth. Cardenas was consistent throughout the round, totaling 10 pars, four birdies and just four bogeys.

Cardenas will enter round two competition tomorrow just two strokes behind Auburn's Kaeigh Telfer for the tournament lead. Telfer carded an opening round score of two under par 69.

Not far behind Cardenas was teammate Jennifer Rosenberg as she tied for eighth. Rosenberg closed round one play by shooting one over par (72). The Tulane sophomore logged five birdies and eight pars on the day.

Rounding out the Tulane lineup was senior Laura Munoz, Gabrielle Correia and Haydyn Gibson as they concluded round one tied for 45, tied for 56th and tied for 56th, respectively.

No. 23 Auburn holds the overall team lead after one round with a score of 287.
